NICOLE AIMEE DUROCHER ANSWERS THE KITTEN LIFE QUESTIONNAIRE

Today is a very special feature of The Kitten Life Questionnaire, where we're featuring one half of the dream team powering this website, Nicole Aimee Durocher.

Nicole is the graphic designer and aesthetically gifted kitten behind most of the images featured on this site. She's an incredibly talented artist who works with a diverse range of mediums.

To look at one of Nicole's paintings, you are transported, or rather, swallowed up into a dreamy, colourful paradise full of majestic palm trees, rolling waves, beautiful mermaids. Stepping into her world you're greeted by the beach house of your dreams and you can't help but feel a calm, peaceful connection to your surroundings.

Inspired by colour therapy or "chromotherapy," Nicole tries to access the colours that often lie dormant in our subconscious that we rarely allow ourselves to access in the real world.

She brings out this interplay of hues in the sky, in the faces of the Goddesses she paints, in the leaves of tropical plants.

Colours have deeper meaning and are an important aspect of our chakra system, should we open ourselves to it.

During her time at Parsons the New School for Design in New York, she became interested in reproducing her art across mediums. This has manifested in the gorgeous kaleidoscope patterns of her silk scarf collection, as well as various commissioned work she's done for pillows, wallpaper, kimonos, upholstery and other signature pieces that add new life to a room or wardrobe.

Nicole's artwork asks us to look, really look, at the world around us through a lens of deep connection with the self, with our lines of energy and with the possibilities for a life of peace, love and grooviness.

Nicole is an art teacher for children and adults and you can view the classes she teaches in Montreal here. Check out her website for her latest paintings and products or to commision a unique piece, and follow her on Instagram.
