THE KITTEN LIFE ZINE VOLUME I
We're on the same path.
Drop a tab.
Somewhere between Morocco and Paris.
We have the same thoughts."
The Kitten Life Zine Volume I was written and designed in Vancouver during a night of pure creation.
It was during one of those nights where conversation comes easy, the creativity levels are getting wavy, the barriers melt and words come to light, images manifest and consciousness becomes more pervasive than unconsciousness. Everything feels light.
What is a zine? From the Art Gallery of Ontario:
"A zine is usually a non commercial, non professional publication, kind of
like a magazine but with a twist. The main difference between a magazine
and a zine is that zines are not out there to make a profit but, rather, to add
other, often unheard voices into the mix. Zines are usually made out of
interest and passion and are often self-published by the writer/artist/creator.
Typically zines are made using collage techniques and are then photocopied
since these are means available to almost everyone."
Constantly seeking to go deeper into meaning (about yourself, about life, about Truth), the pairing of words and images to feelings and experiences is often difficult because the possibilities are endless. What are the right words, what are the right images that truly express a lived experience?
We choose this format as a way to... perhaps debrief or summarize or encapsulate the weeks and months spent exploring Paris, Tenerife, Amsterdam, during a period of re-connection. You can check out the full-res version in the design section of our site.
R E S I S T A N C E to what is.
Is this a shared experience?"
We reconnected to ourselves, to each other, but also, and probably moreso to what it means to be alive.
What do you do when you feel disconnected? How do you cope?
But also... How do you know what consciousness is if you've never known unconsciousness How do you know the highs without the lows?
We hope you enjoy this gem from the vault.
